Walnut and Cherry Tables

Side Table - 2024
This side table was made to complement the Entry Way table below, which was made several years prior. It was designed with the same joinery techniques in mind. The form was dictated by the original store-bought side table that this table was commissioned to replace. The original table sat between two recliner chairs, which were angled inward slightly to provide a better view of the TV. This angle was replicated in the new version. The only differences in this table to the older entry way table is the lack of splines on the table top, and an improved construction of the cuffed maple legs - solid maple cuff connected to the walnut upper leg via a through tenon.

Entry Way Table - 2020
A tall and narrow entry way table constructed using traditional Western joinery and furniture techniques. The main feature is the Walnut and Cherry top, joined together via a combination of tongue and groove and splined miters. Tapered legs and aprons are joined together with a castle (crown) joint. The walnut legs are tapered down to one inch square, starting at the Cherry dowel-pinned shelf, and cuffed with maple veneer. Intentional highlighting of the natural 'flaws' in the wood grain is achieved by encasing the voids in colored resin.
Dimensions: 38" x 32" x 12"
