Below are a collection of wood related projects which were completed from 2018 to the present. These projects have been set aside from the other wood and furniture projects featured on this web portfolio. Some of them I consider to be irrelevant to my current work and projected future focus, not substantial enough to be thrown in with the other major projects, or because they were preformed at a skill level which has been far surpassed. Despite this, I feel that all of these projects demonstrate specific skills, concepts, or materiality which may not be present in my current focus. Additionally, these projects tell the story of my craft and woodworking progression throughout the years.

Windsor Stool
Created at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking Windsor chair making class, which took me through the entirety of the chair designing process, from initial conception to final completion and finishing. Features a subtle hand carved Alder saddle seat, with turned Poplar legs and stretchers. Besides the turned components, all work was done by hand. Danish Soap finish was applied.
Watch Collection Box
Gorgeous box for a 10 - piece watch collection made from 40 year old Japanese Oak, Padauk, and Wenge. The Padauk and Wenge framing around the glass lid and the thin 1/32" splines, were designed to compliment the colorful racing stripes present on several of the watch bands in the collection. Black velvet bottom and pillows. Finished with oil based lacquer and wax.
Dimensions: 17" x 8" x 4"
Keep Sake Box
Made for a long time family friend, for her to give as a gift. Made from Leopardwood, Purple Heart, Maple, and Ebonized Oak Veneer. Features a sliding tray and a lower compartment. Nearly air-tight glass lid fit over the interior maple sleeves. Finished with oil based lacquer and wax.

Sea Table
The Sea Table was made to replace the original laminate dining table in an 1986 34 foot Catalina Sailboat. Three separate solid mahogany boards make up the middle of this table, and it is encased by a mitered curly maple boarder, followed up by a mitered mahogany boarder to unite the piece.
Dimensions: 36" x 29" x 1.25"
Sushi Boards
End grain sushi boards featuring a handmade ceramic bowl, bamboo chop sticks and a hand cut Ebony chopstick rest. Made with Japanese design elements in mind, like the gentle curving radius on the underside of the sushi boards, inspired by the curves on traditional Japanese roofs. As well as the runners on the bottom of the boards, which also drew inspiration from Japanese architecture. Made out of Canarywood, Wenge, Maple and Ebony.
Dimensions: 11" x 4" x 1"
Bookmatched Cutting Board
Bookmatched end grain cutting board featuring a subtle round over and deep inset handles for carrying; made out of Purple Heart, Olivewood, Wenge, and Maple.
Dimensions: 14" x 9" x 1"
2019
The First of two matching cutting boards commissione by a client. Named after the puddle-like appearance of the boards. This one is a super thick and meaty board featuring a deep juice groove and a coved edge profile for use as a hand hold around the entire board. It is made out of thick repeating strips of Purple Heart and Walnut.
Dimensions: 18" x 12" x 2"
The second of the two matching Puddle cutting boards. This one is a little smaller and less beefy, meant for preparing a meal for a smaller group, or for use on smaller counter spaces. Features a juice groove equally as big as the first one, however, the coved edge profile is replaced with a heavy circular round over, as this board isn't heavy enough to warrant the extra hand hold profiles.
Dimensions: 16" x 11" x 1"
Jewelry Box
The devil is in the details with this beautiful Jewelry Box. Every element of this box features a unique design choice; whether it be the mosaic banding across the top of the box, the brass and epoxy mosaic pinned drawer pulls, or the Japanese style runner-feet. This box has a lot to look at, and the continuous grain drawer fronts and Purple Heart drawer bottoms are no exception. Made from Curly Maple, Black Walnut, Purple Heart and Bocote.
Dimensions: 8" x 4.5" x 4"

Valet Tray
Custom Valet Tray commissioned by a client; built around constraints of holding and hiding the clients collection of everyday-carry knives. Features an elevated black velvet tray, which pops open to unveil the knives, which would fit in the compartment under it. Joinery in this project includes splined miters, a dado'd Walnut bottom panel, and dados to hold in the separation between the two compartments. This is made out of Figured Walnut, Bolivian Rosewood, and Maple.
Dimensions: 11" x 9" x 3"
Explosion Cutting Board
This 'Explosion Cutting Board' got its name from the explosion-like look that is present in the Ambrosia Maple (center) grain. This cutting board won 1st place in a cutting board build-off contest in which it was entered, back in 2018. It is made out of Ambrosia Maple, Walnut, Padauk and Bocote.
Dimensions: 14.5" x 10.25" x 1"
