The Gossamer Shelf is a delicate, wall-mounted storage unit, designed to display personal items of importance, including photographs, without the use of a picture frame to display them. This shelf has very minimal visual weight, while still commanding the attention of the viewer; a self-appointed design constraint, set at the beginning stages of the design process, which was ultimately accomplished.
It features three shelves, connected by two thin vertical stringers. The transition from the vertical stringers to the shelves gives a very elegant and natural flow-like appearance to the piece, and the heavy rounded-bevel undercut on the shelves aids in the reduction of it's visual weight. The front face of the shelves have a long, thin slit to display salient photographs. Made from Walnut.
